I got sucked down a techno wormhole this morning. Turns out posting a plugin to WordPress plugin directory is not straight forward. Ugh!! I’ll spare you the details…
Anyway I did finally manage to post a new plugin/widget for Elementor. It produces cool aspect-ratio-driven gallery layouts. A bit “mosaicy” where images of different shapes and sizes arrange themselves into rows in jaunty ways. A bit like masonry but better.
I use it a lot on this site and thought I’d share. The layout algorithm is adapted from Jetpack’s open-source tiled gallery grouper, reimplemented as a native Elementor widget with full style controls for convenience (hover overlays, typography, borders, CSS filters.)
All of it was much more difficult than I thought it would be but such is the lure of tech. Such is the rabbit hole. I’m already thinking of ways I could develop it. Oh no…
Available free from the WordPress plugin directory. You need Elementor installed for it to work.
