I made a version of this painting before Xmas and have just completed this second version. I don’t usually make multiple versions of the same image and may not have done so with this were it not for the fact that the original version of this (along with it’s companion “Known”) got destroyed in transit after they had sold for reasons that were ,unfortunately, entirely my fault. But I was lucky for two reasons: The buyer of the originals was happy to let me paint them again (rather than asking for a refund) and painting them again taught me quite a lot about the process I have slowly been developing in these and other works. The upshot is a couple of paintings that are I think a good bit better than the first. All of which makes me think that I might do multiple versions of the same images in future. Good good.
